Adequate water intake varies by individual, but a widely accepted baseline algorithm is:

  • ~33 ml of water per kilogram of body weight as a baseline.
  • Plus ~12 oz (350 ml) for every 30 minutes of exercise to replace lost fluids.

Note: Environmental factors (hot climates, high altitude) and physiological conditions (pregnancy, illness) significantly increase water requirements.
